Violence and abuse

This research topic deals with vulnerable groups exposed to violence and abuse. We have a broad understanding of the concept of violence and abuse, which includes, e.g., physical violence, sexual violence, neglect and negative social control. The research includes the understanding of the phenomenon of risk factors, how this is experienced for those affected and the consequences this possesses. At the same time, it also includes research on measures and instruments to prevent, identify and follow up people exposed to violence and abuse.

Social housing

The research team has expertise in social housing based on a case study on the social housing model in Sandefjord municipality. The basic philosophy is that exposed groups need a comprehensive range of assistance that includes housing, health care, financial assistance and assistance with work or education. Central to this topic are therefore working methods that safeguard the inter-agency cooperation in the municipality, and between the municipality and other services.

Asylum process

This research topic primarily deals with state and municipal instruments in their work with the asylum process and the integration of immigrant groups. Key instruments in this topic are settlement, language training, work-oriented measures and integration into civil society. The research topics range from using government control through economic and legal instruments, to more in-depth studies of how the instruments are designed at the local level.
